Installations and Experimental Printmaking

In this book, Alexia Tala explores and investigates the newexperimental forms of printmaking, which are today pushing thetraditional boundaries of this technique in contemporary art. Theseinclude the usage of photo-emulsion, glass and paper, Perspex and paintstripper, printing with sand and digital prints mounted on reliefsurfaces. This volume also considers the role of the moving image,encaustic (wax) techniques for printing, transferring, collaging andcombining traditional prints with wax.
In addition to an evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages ofthese individual approaches, the author also offers an insight into theexperiences and concerns of contemporary artists displayingexperimental printmaking objects and installations for exhibition. Workof over 30 British and International artists are illustrated giving thereader practical examples and inspiration to explore for themselves theexperimental aspects of printmaking.
