"Pierre the Cajun Frog" relates the tale of a young swamp dweller who lives with his family in South Louisiana. Through a portrayal of the title character's relationship with a neighboring mosquito, a message is imparted about friendship, trust, and loyalty.

Feeling left out because he does not look or sound like any of his siblings, Pierre finds a companion in George, an insect who lives in the weeds. Once Pierre vows not to follow a general tendency of his kind to eat the mosquito, the pair forms a bond and enjoys playing together. They meet each day, interacting with some of the other swamp creatures and finding a degree of contentment in one another's company.

In the conclusion of "Pierre the Cajun Frog", a year has passed and then two friends continue to enjoy roaming around the bayou. As a whole, the narrative characterizes a vision of the Louisiana Swampland while also seeking to entertain and stir a young reader's imagination.
