Transforming Teaching and Learning in Key Stage 3 Science

This book supports trainee and qualified science teachers in the implementation of the new Key Stage 3 science strategy, a national requirement from September 2002.

It is divided into two sections: the first section offers a concise explanation of the key aspects of the strategy and looks at the strengths and weaknesses of a variety of teaching and learning strategies to help motivate and inspire pupils; the second section provides a range of highly effective ideas for teachers to incorporate the framework quickly and easily into their teaching.

The book also includes activities and practical tasks to encourage teachers to reflect on the effectiveness of different teaching approaches.

Throughout, the authors focus on a number of key themes including pupil and teacher motivation, effective use of ICT, teaching scientific enquiry and making links between different aspects of the strategy.
