Praise and Play! : Worshipping with Under-fives

It examines the spiritual basis for worship with under-fives and outlines how developmental issues can inform the provision which churches offer.

It offers a storytelling technique designed to enable adults to relate the biblical story of Jesus to the child. "Parable Fun for Little Ones" (Barnabas 07) and other titles for under-fives in the Barnabas list.All materials have been developed and thoroughly field-tested by the author.

This title is suitable for people working with under-fives, such as toddler group leaders, playschool leaders, church-based children's workers, clergy and family workers, foundation teachers working with pre-school nursery groups, and Christian parents and carers.

The aim of "Praise and Play" is to help very young children and their parents or carers feel comfortable and accepted in the church community.

Each service contains Praise (gathering, welcome, action song, story, reflective questions, instrumental song, prayer time, news time, concluding worship and blessing) and Play (craft time and chat time).

The twelve themes cover the life of Jesus from his birth to the post-resurrection stories.
