Learning about life cycles : using an organic garden

Uses the practical idea of growing small amounts of organic food at school in order to: meet all the learning objectives of the QCA's Science 5b 'Life Cycles' unit; help children understand how some of their food is grown; reduce and recycle classroom waste; encourage understanding of our interdependent relationship with other living things that share our planet; recognise and help some of the endangered species in our immediate environment; incorporate and encourage the teaching of 'sustainable development' into the curriculum. also brings modern, relevant issues into the Junior school classroom.
