Queering Elementary Education : Advancing the Dialogue about Sexualities and Schooling

This volume assembles a range of writers from diverse backgrounds and geographies to examine five broadly-defined areas in elementary education: foundational issues; social and sexual development; curriculum; the family; and gay/lesbian educators and their allies.

It seeks to provide scholarly insights, pedagogical strategies, and curricular resources for use in schools.

At the core of the book is the belief that public school educators have the responsibility to affirm sexual diversity in an intellectually honest and age-appropriate manner, respectful of various religious and moral beliefs, and mindful of the reciprocal relationship between theory and practice.
