The summer of 1986 has been terrible for fifteen-year-old KT Jacobs.

His somewhat eccentric and secretive father has disappeared. KT has been forced to move from his hometown to live with an aunt and uncle he barely knows. And as the story opens, he is waking up in a hospital room from a three-day coma, with his left arm and leg paralyzed after a catastrophic bicycle accident.

On the bright side, KT has a new friend. Fritzie is outgoing and impetuous, which KT is not. He may seem scattered and flaky, but Fritzie proves to be a solid (and creative) ally.

The two boys form an unlikely team to confront the secrets hidden in KT's past.
