*Painstakingly revised, line by line.*Re-written for young readers and family retellings.* With the original illustrations by John Leech.

This new version of Charles Dickens's classic tale has been carefully, lovingly, and respectfully created by the author and academic D.

K. Fletcher to inspire young readers to immerse themselves in the spirit and imagination of England's greatest-ever writer.

A Christmas Carol has been revised for young readers a number of times before.

But not like this. Previous revisions have shortened, omitted and simplified; and in doing so, have inadvertently removed much of the depth from Dickens's original text.

Fletcher's new version, however, takes a different approach: it retains, digs and explores, to bring Dickens to the young in all his glory.

Fletcher stays true to Dickens's voice, depth of meaning, and purpose, while making every line as accessible as possible.

The result is a highly readable version of a timeless Christmas story, told in twelve easily-digestible Parts, in honour of the twelve days of Christmas. A Christmas Carol was written to be read aloud. Indeed, Dickens often read it, or more accurately, performed it, to captivated audiences, exploiting the vitality of the words he had imbued with so much of the spirit of himself.

Fletcher's version pays due care to the performative potential of the original text, being written in such a way as to make it perfect for passionate bedtime readings and dramatic retellings round the family fire.

Dr Daniel K. Fletcher completed a PhD in Sociology at Keele University in 2016.

He is the author of the research monograph 'The Cultural Contradictions of Anti-Capitalism,' published by Routledge in 2018.

He continues to write and research independently from Staffordshire, England.
