The Venetian Upper Clergy in the 16th and Early 17th Centuries

This study of clerical culture in early modern Venice presents a cross-section of religious writings, cutting across genres and spiritual or intellectual currents.

There is an emphasis on notions of pastorality and the culture of persons engaged in the pastoral ministry, and in addition the rhetorical and argumentative resources of post-classical culture are explored.
