Words and Ideas: The Roots of Plato's Philosophy

This study sets Plato's philosophical language against the background of the previous four centuries' cultural production.

The author retraces to their roots the history and development of the key terms of the theory of forms as presented in the Phaedo, and in doing so sheds new light on Plato's relation to the pre-Socratics.
