Bullying in Britain : Testimonies from Teenagers

This study is the voice of over 7,000 young people from schools and youth groups all around the country.

They tell of the violence and torment endured by too many young people in our schools today.

All those involved in protecting and promoting the well-being of our young people need to hear these strong messages.

The work defines the extent of the problem and provides guidance to recognise a child is being bullied, it also examines the motives behind bullying and patterns common to victims.

Futhermore, it provides first hand evidence from victims and bullies in the form of completed surveys.

Bullying reflects the society children experience. The work concludes, no programme to reduce bullying will be effective without the democratic participation of the young people it serves.

This report reveals how vital it is to listen to young people rather than set up programmes that adults think will work.
