A Study of the "De Potentia" of Thomas Aquinas in Light of the "Dogmatik" of Paul Tillich : Creation as Discipleship

See all formats and editions

This study is a hermeneutical project, attempting to interpret Aquinas' creation doctrine, as found in the disputed question, "De Potentia", in light of the creation teaching of Paul Tillich as articulated in the recently published "Dogmatik" of 1925.

Applying the Tillichean hermeneutic, the study argues that Thomas' seemingly abstract and metaphysical account can and should be read as the encouragement of a Christ-like stance of pure receptivity on the part of the creature, that is man.
