The Oxford Companion to German Literature (2 Revised edition)

In this second edition the reference book has been brought up to date with much new material, while still covering the whole span of literature in German-speaking countries from eighth century to 1985.

The treatment of contemporary trends and authors in the German Democratic Republic has been considerably expanded, and there has been extensive modification and re-evaluation of articles in the first edition in the light of subsequent research and scholarship.
