In deciding whether to attach conditions to a site licence issued under the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960, local authorities are required to have regard to Model Standards issued by the Secretary of State.

Since then there have been changes in the design construction of park (mobile) homes and holiday caravans, the original fire safety spacing standards may need revision.

The Fire Research Station was commissioned to research into the fire safety of modern holiday caravans and park (mobile) homes.

This report describes the work carried out and the conclusions of the research.
