South Africa's government and people still have much to do if they are to realize the hopes and dreams of the rainbow nation.

There is no doubt that some people have benefited. A small group of well educated blacks and Asians have been able to take advantage of new opportunities and their quality of life has improved dramatically.

However, unemployment is high and poverty and inequality are still major problems.

This work explores the changes taking place as South Africans talk about their hopes for the future as their country enters the 21st century.
