British Cabinet System

This is an analytical account of the development, institutions and workings of the contemporary British cabinet system.

It looks first at the framework of established institutions, values, practices, processes and networks of the system, and goes on to provide a series of 14 case studies of the cabinet system at work, including the 1976 IMF crisis, the Falkland Islands, and pit closures.

Together, these parts provide an overview of the theory and practice of British cabinet government for students, researchers and teachers of British Politics.
