Sigmund Freud and Art : His Personal Collection of Antiquities

See all formats and editions

Sigmund Freud was a passionate collector of ancient art, ultimately amassing some 2000 works from Egypt, Greece, Rome and the near East and Asia.

This book - originally published in conjunction with the Freud Museum in London and a touring exhibition of the finest pieces in the collection - examines what the works meant to Freud and the connections he made between art, antiquities, archaeology and psychoanalysis.

The illustrations include colour plates of almost 90 antiquities, as well as documentary pictures of Freud's life and home.
