This book was published in some forty-nine editions prior to the Russian revolution.

It is now in its third printing in English. In it, St. Tikhon, who lived from 1724 to 1783 , gives his counsel on living the Christian life.

It touches many areas including "Love of God," "The Way of Duty" and "Towards Eternity."The work is further enhanced by two lives of the Saint, a glossary of terms, a bibliography and a Scriptural and a Subject index.
