This series encompasses world history from the earliest peoples to the present day.

As well as the history of civilizations, cultures and countries, the everyday lives of ordinary people are also recorded, with particular attention being paid to the way in which religious and political changes affected their lives. This book covers the period from the end of the Roman Empire to the beginning of the Renaissance in Europe, and includes all areas of the world.

The text examines the kingdom of Charlemagne, the Mayas, the Crusades and the Mongols and there are feature pages on castles, medieval technology, the "Black Death" and trade and transport.
