Mike and Faith Young wanted to get away and experience something new.

They decided to volunteer their time and energy in Chiapas, Mexico and parts of Guatemala.

They built ecologically sustainable waterless latrines, compost bins, greenhouses, and experimented with permaculture construction.

They also were given the opportunity to get to know the people of the region on a personal level.

They are devoted to finding a harmonious balance between mankind and nature.

While traveling they had the opportunity to live with a cacao farming family and also stay at a sea turtle sanctuary.

They were also welcomed into a Q'eqchi' Maya village where they were shown the wealth that can be found within a rain forest.

This is their story and was written as it happened and contains images of their journey.
