Hecuba

Published alongside the London West End opening in April 2005 of the RSC production starring Vanessa Redgrave - and in the wake of Clare Higgins's ecstatically received performance at the Donmar in September 2004 - Hecuba is currently the most performed of all the Greek tragedies.

Not surprising, given that it deals with the aftermath of a bloody war and an act of bloody revenge wreaked by a mother robbed of her children.
