Dictionary of Biology (2 Rev ed)

See all formats and editions

This dictionary provides a representative selection of terms from the huge vocabulary of the biological sciences.

Rather than aiming for completeness in this immensely wide subject area, the compilers have presented as proportionate a selection of terms as possible from all areas of biology.

Topical interest areas, such as the environment, ethology and ecology, are covered more extensively than in the previous edition.

The range of entries extends to including expressions, which, while not strictly "scientific" terms, are frequently encountered in biological texts.

The terms are arranged in alphabetical order in English, each followed by its equivalent in German, French and Spanish.

The keywords are consecutively numbered, and separate indexes in French, German and Spanish are provided, which refer back to this central glossary.
