Wavell : the viceroy's journal

The three and a half year tenure of Lord Wavell's viceroyalty, was perhaps the most difficult and momentous period of office that any Viceroy had to face.

It was also the most misunderstood. His summary dismissal from the post cast a shadow over his achievements and, in restrospect, made his efforts look fumbling and maladroit.

Wavell's Journal seeks to help correct a number of these misconceptions and lead to a better appraisal of his achievements as Viceroy and his qualities as a man.
