The Bay is an educational CD-ROM in the form of a role-playing game dealing with the management of water quality in a bay.

You must manage the bay over a ten-year period. During that time, you will tackle five major problems which are randomly selected from 18 scenarios including a freak storm, dying penguins, algal blooms, pollution and killer starfish.

The aim is to finish with the Bay as healthy as (or healthier than) when you start.

During the game, you become acquainted with concepts such as ecosystems, food webs, biological indicators, toxicant, introduced species, sewerage and stormwater systems.

Learning Opportunities After using The Bay, students will be able to: read and interpret data; describe the impact of humans on the environment; understand the significance of biodiversity in the marine environment; describe the impact of a change to one element in a food chain or web.

Suitable for ages 11 to adult.
