John Bunyan stuns each new generation of Christians with his insight into the spiritual journey in the faith we all must walk. Bunyan began writing this work while imprisoned for not conforming to the requirements of the state church in England. In the face of these difficulties, Bunyan still considered the trials and temptations that separate us from God and eternal life with Him to be far more important than his own 'light and momentary sufferings.' Bunyan's message reminds us that we are only pilgrims on our way to the heavenly lands: and to mind our step. This illustrated edition contains the numerous drawings and engravings that have helped give Bunyan's book its lasting power, in particular by Frederick Barnard, which were engraved by the Dalziel brothers. This edition also includes an index of Bible passages that Bunyan cited.
