In turn impudent, cynical and supportive, the guides take her through Inferno (first year), Purgatorio (second year) and Paradiso (third year), all the while probing the basic purpose of her quest.

Along the way she meets archetypal figures such as Larry Leftist, Ms Pro Bono, the Robo-Student, and Professor Deadwood.
