JOHN BOST has near 50 years' experience in education, if one considers both formal and informal engagement.

For several years he has been a guest speaker at Winston-Salem State University and Forsyth Community College.

He served as an associate to the superintendent in the public school system, participating in annual teacher training and curriculum planning, further deepening the staff's community engagement.

He served 7 years as an executive pastor at a church if over 3000, before launching his own consulting firm, Master Counsel & Associates and contracting back with the church.

He has held numerous volunteer and board roles from co-chair of the Forsyth County Smart Start to the Mayor's Ten-Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness. As well, he served two 4 year terms on the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Planning Board, and has consulted with multiple Community Development Corporations.

Previous chairman of Leadership Winston-Salem, NC, he also served three terms as Mayor of the nearby Village of Clemmons.

Bost is an avid reader, particularly in the areas of social justice, leadership theory and entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Both his life experience and three generations of stories passed down from working class heritage, have always given him the hope that one day he might pay forward the debt owed to the sovereign relationships that have propelled his life.

Many of these learnings were captured by co-writer Patty Sawvell in the book, 'A Catalyst for Change," written with a style that communicates the naivete of this first generation, blue collar college student. The book and those books that have followed, demonstrate a path from poverty to success and significance.
