Eons ago, as the last ice age melted, the earth was awash.

The seas were filled with life eating life. It was a dangerous sea.Spirits flowed along the surface of the seas, searching out safe places for sentient life to begin.

Among these spirits, a band of Faeries took a liking to one small island and set about planning its future.

This island Pod was among thousands dotting the oceans.

Myth had it, the Faeries wanted this island to become, in a far-off epoch, important-some might say formidable.A thousand years later, struggle was the norm.

Each day was filled with fear or hunger, or that strange compulsion of lust-to procreate. The Faeries saw the people begin to want more.

The population increased beyond their estimation. The Faeries viewed all this as chaotic, disturbing, ugly.

For them, they disdained, even feared the constant tumult.

The Faerie power was weakening. There had to be a better way.

Normally, they didn't like to interfere too much-it was fine with them if these animals, these seething things wanted their free will, freedom.

But how to make that happen? It was a question the Faeries had to answer. But the Faeries had to deal with what they created.

It wasn't enough to control everything-the weather, the winds, water flowing in streams, keeping the beaches in place.

All those things the Faeries did to keep the people of Pod safe.

Some sort of order must be obtained, even maintained.

So they gathered in their timeless time to figure out what to do.

All ideas were welcome-good or evil or anything in between.Three Faeries volunteered to give up their wings and enter the realm of mortality.

Through their handiwork, Pod would hopefully become a calmer place.

They were to bring light to the dark. The birth of a blue was another idea. It worked in the past. It may work again. The Faeries needed to know. They needed something more to make Pod life better. They had to stop this headlong reach into disaster.
