Rana is cleaning her teeth when strong north winds tickle the windows and pop...the lights go out.

Suddenly, her familiar surroundings become a vast, dark ocean.

Mum calls out that she is looking for a candle. So, Rana starts to make her own way to safety. It's scary in the dark, but she makes it to her bedroom, and Fluffy Bear.

Then Dad turns up and takes her downstairs. The kitchen is cosy in the candlelight, with the wind still howling outside.

Mum and Dad share a cup of tea, and Rana and Fluffy Bear have some biscuits and milk.

Then Ping! The lights come on again and it's time for Rana to go to bed.

The house is brightly lit now and Rana misses the warm, cosy darkness.

But, when she finds out that her night light isn't working, she's not happy.

She begs Mum to leave the hall light, explaining that Fluffy Bear is scared of the dark.

Then Rana and Fluffy Bear settle down to sleep. But the light spilling in from the hall is bright and Rana can't sleep.

She jumps out of bed and closes the door. At last the horrible, yellow light is gone and she can fall asleep...in a darkness as wide as the ocean.
