Kia ora! My name is Popoto, and I am a Maui dolphin. I hope to make lots of friends because we are not doing so well. You see, Maui dolphins are endangered. When an animal is endangered, it means that there are not enough of us on the Earth to keep our families safe, happy, and healthy. But guess what? The Maui dolphin is one of the world's smallest dolphins and can only be found off the west coast of New Zealand. As a critically endangered species with less than sixty members alive today, these unique little dolphins need our help. With a bit of compassion, everyday people like you and me can work with cetologists and environmental scientists to educate people around the world on the importance of ocean conservation.
