This is a self-teaching Internet training course for secondary schools and libraries that simulates Internet and World Wide Web use yet does not require a "live" Internet connection.

Incorporating a graphically appealing, hands-on approach that can be integrated into a school's information skills curriculum, this innovative programme enables students to pass their information superhighway "driver's test" by learning to navigate the Web in a controlled setting with six Web sites ("Teen Movie Critic", "Beverly Hills 90210", "American Gladiators", "Supercars Past and Present", "Amazon River Explorer" and "Abandoned Missile Silo Adventure"), and mastering e-mail essentials, from using a password to setting up an account.

The course also includes a "rules of the road" section which can be customized to reflect patron use policy at your school or library, a section on Netiquette, and a hypertext glossary. An accompanying teacher's guide shows how to divide the tutorial into a field-tested, four-day instructional programme, and also contains information on system requirments, set-up and installation; ways to personalize the programme with the name of your school or library throughout; a five-part instructional plan to help avoid potential bumps in the road; a copy of the skills test with an answer key; and a basic school Internet use policy to be signed by a parent or guardian.

The CDROM is Mac and IBM compatible.
