Reclamation of damaged land for nature conservation

This publication aims to assist central and local government, the minerals industry, land restoration agencies and consultants when dealing with the assessment, protection, creation and management of nature conservation interest (both biological and earth science) on damaged land.

It is applicable to all sizes of site from large tracts of damaged land to small corner plots and for both permanent after use and temporary use, and is relevant to most types of derelict land and old mineral workings.

The handbook is divided into two parts: Part One is aimed at decision makers and covers the main points relating to nature conservation when tackling the reclamation and management of derelict land; Part Two is aimed at practitioners and contains a series of fact sheets providing more detailed and technical information.
