Treasures from the Art Institute of Chicago

An introduction summarizes the Museum's history from its founding in 1879 to the beginning of the 21st century.

There are nearly 450 works displayed in the book's pages.

The collection ranges from superb examples of African, pre-Columbian, Asian and ancient European art, to highlights of the great European collection, including an encyclopaedic representation of French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism; American art from colonial times to the 20th century; and masterworks of the modern era.

In addition to paintings and sculptures, the volume showcases textiles, decorative arts, photographs, drawings, prints, and architectural models and drawings.
