Alternative Road Transport Fuels : A Preliminary Life-cycle Study for the UK - v. 1

This study examines, in a national context, the overall economic, energy and emissions impications of various road transport fuel alternatives.

Comparisons are made on a life-cycle basis for each fuel taking into consideration the energy use and emissions associated with its production, distribution and end-use in vehicles.

Volume 1 describes the methodology of life-cycle analysis, the technologies for fuel production and use in vehicles, the overall life-cycle comparisons between fuels, and brief details of their economics.

The relative merits of each alternative fuel and the factors constraining their market penetration are also summarized.
