The introduction of specialisms has enabled social workers to develop particular skills in their selected area.

However, opportunities to obtain insight into other forms of specialist practice that could influence the well being of their clients may be limited under the developing specialist structures.

This book seeks to address the potential limitation by: * exploring current social work issues that have implications for specialist practice * describing work with specific user groups in order to identify ways in which specialists can work together to meet the needs of the service users * providing material on training and development that includes individual and group exercises to help with the application of ideas about practice across specialist boundaries.
