The Lodger

'The Lodger' (1926) marked a turning-point in British cinema. The first film Alfred Hitchcock directed in London, it was, in his own words, 'the first true Hitchcock picture'. Using hitherto untapped sources, this book reconstructs the cultural environment to which Hitchcock belonged, and identifies the elements of what became his signature style.
