The 100 Best Albums of all Time announces and elaborates on the best albums of released since music gave birth to rock and roll.

From the opening snare shot that was heard around the world on 'Like a Rolling Stone' from Bob Dylan's stunning Highway 61 Revisited, through the pioneering genius of the Beatles' best work, across the personal and idiosyncratic songs of Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Kate Bush and the Smiths, to the unique streetscapes of Public Enemy, Jay-Z and the Velvet Underground, these are the albums that defined and shaped generations, were the soundtrack to global change or personal heartbreak, and influenced untold numbers of artists who followed.

Toby Creswell began writing for newspapers and magazines when he was 17.

He edited the Australian edition of Rolling Stone for many years and later started Terraplanet, the publishing house.

He has written numerous books including 1001 Songs, which was published in the UK and the USA, and The 100 Best Australian Albums.

He has also written and produced many highly acclaimed documentaries, including the series Great Australian Albums.Craig Mathieson writes about music, film and television for The Age, the Sydney Morning Herald, The Sunday Age and the Sun-Herald.

A former film critic for the Bulletin, Mathieson's work has also appeared in the NME, Kerrang and Q.

He has been writing about music since the age of 17 and his previous books include Hi Fi Days, The Sell-In, Playlisted: Everything You Need to Know About Australian Music Right Now and The 100 Best Australian Albums.
