The Films of Olivier Assayas

Collection of four French dramas directed by Olivier Assayas.

In 'Disorder' (1986) a group of friends who play in a punk rock band get involved in the robbery of a music store which results in one man being killed.

Wracked with guilt, the gang head to London on tour but it's not long before their criminal past threatens to bring them down.

In 'Winter's Child' (1989) Stéphane (Michel Feller) leaves his pregnant wife Natalia (Marie Matheron) for young set designer Sabine (Clotilde de Bayser) in a bid to avoid the responsibility of fatherhood.

In 'Irma Vep' (1996) a French director attempts to revive his career and decides to remake 'Les Vampires', a classic silent adventure film.

Looking to make the film a success he casts actress Maggie (Maggie Cheung) as Irma, the heroine of the piece.

However, Maggie soon finds it difficult to cope with the eccentric director's behaviour, as well as the romantic attentions of her wardrobe mistress.

In a haze of confusion and jet lag, Maggie starts taking on the wicked character of Irma Vep as she journeys into the Parisian night in search of crime.

Finally, in 'Demonlover' (2002) Diane de Monx (Connie Nielsen) is an executive of Volf Corporation who have acquired the rights to a Japanese anime pornography website.

When they learn of a sadomasochism website with higher viewer figures than their site, however, a violent rivalry ensues.
