In the summer of 1966, high school student Kaoru Nishimi (voice of Ryohei Kimura) moves to stay with his relatives in Kyushu.

An introverted figure at his last school, Kaoru starts to change when he falls into the orbit of the school's infamous bad boy Sentaro Kawabuchi (Yoshimasa Hosoya).

After discovering a shared passion for jazz music, the pair's fledgling friendship is soon tested to its limits when Kaoru is smitten by Ritsuko (Yuuka Nanri), Sentaro's oldest childhood friend.
