Mr Topaze

Directorial debut from Peter Sellers set in a small French town with Sellers starring as the eponymous Mr Topaze, an earnest and mild-mannered school teacher.

After failing a pupil who just so happens to be the grandson of a wealthy and influential baroness Mr Topaze loses his job.

Musical actress Suzy (Nadia Gray) senses an opportunity and persuades her partner, Government official Castel Benac (Herbert Lom), to use Mr Topaze as the new managing director of his corrupt financial business, believing that his reputation for honesty will bode well for Benac's company.

However, when Mr Topaze becomes aware of this ploy he becomes more cunning and attempts to play his employers at their own game.
