The Hollywood Collection

Collection of three films from three different eras of Hollywood.

In Fred Zinnemann's 'Julia' (1977), a celebrated American playwright named Lillian (Jane Fonda) is invited to a writer's conference in Russia.

While travelling through Europe towards her destination, Lillian is reunited with her old friend Julia (Vanessa Redgrave), who asks her to smuggle money through Nazi Germany as a means of aiding the anti-fascist cause; a dangerous mission for a young Jewish intellectual.

James Foley's 'Glengarry Glen Ross' (1992) follows the exhilarating highs and crushing lows of life in real estate sales for a group of individuals as they try to make their way in the brutal world of finance.

Some of them bargain and swindle their way to financial gain, while others are driven to do so for more personal reasons.

Finally, in Martin Ritt's 'The Long, Hot Summer' (1958), Ben Quick (Paul Newman) is a rough and ready rancher who sets up in a town ruled by wealthy landowner Will Varner (Orson Welles).

Unhappy that his weak son Jody (Anthony Franciosa) will inherit his estate, Varner seeks to marry his strong-willed daughter Clara (Joanne Woodward) off to Quick, but the plan soon backfires on him.
