About 30.9 million people between the ages of 15 and 29 live in rural Latin America, i.e. 25.3% of the total population and 19.6% of youth. The majority are unemployed. This book examines the socio-demographic realities of rural youth in Latin America, analyzes their employment situation - including levels and categories of employment, sectors and quality - and makes policy recommendations to tackle these issues.

It also looks at child labour, which is currently in decline, although rural areas still make up 60% of child labour overall.
