North Sea Severity Assessment

Significant wave height data from eight North Sea sites have been analyzed in an attempt to establish whether conditions recorded during the last few years are typically severe or mark the commencement of a trend of increasing severity.

Wind data recorded at the coastal station at Lerwick have also been analyzed to identify any correlation with patterns present within the wave data.

The Lerwick data also allows the compariason of results from the period during which wave data have been collected.
