In "Mexican Details", designers Karen Witynski and Joe P.

Carr travel throughout Mexico and the Southwest in celebration of the character-rich details of Mexican furniture, architectural elements, and handcrafted accents that resonate with beauty and originality.

From chip carved benches and hand-hewn tortilla tables to painted trunks and carved-stone mouldings the soulful nature of Mexican design abounds.

Decorative accents include intricately woven textiles, glazed ceramics, wooden masks, and folk art objects that bear evidence of the hands that crafted them.

Carr and Witynski also look at creative reuse, revealing in vibrant detail how mesquite doors can be newly fashioned into headboards, iron window grilles are converted to coffee tables, and stone water filters blossom as flower planters. The sections included are: Colour and Texture - examines Mexico's long history with vibrant colours and rich textures; Cocinas - how Mexican tiles and culinary antiques bring a kitchen to life; Outdoor Living - open-air spaces inspired by breezy portals, cobbled courtyards, and carved-stone fountains; and, Devotional Elements - Mexico's religious heritage adds passion with antique santos, retablos, and crosses.
