The Penland School of Crafts is a leading centre of craft education in North Carolina.

Founded in the Appalachian Mountains in 1923, it is a college with an international reputation amongst artists and craft teachers.

Each of the Penland professionals represented here specializes in a particular technique or method and photographs show them working as well as featuring their art.

They have written accompanying essays and chosen pieces by other artists to complement their own.
