From the earliest dugouts and bark canoes built by native peoples and the transport canoes employed by 17th- and 18th-century voyageurs to the contemporary canoe, used largely for pleasure, this unique craft has always had a special mystique.

The impressive canoes presented in The Canoe 1999 are part of the largest and most diverse canoe collection in the world, housed in The Canadian Canoe Museum, 910 Monaghan Road, Peterborough, Ontario.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this calendar will help to establish this important institution, preserving a vital part of our heritage.
