UK 2002 : the official yearbook of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

The "UK 2002", formerly known as the "Britain Yearbook", is in its 53rd edition as an annual publication.

This yearbook provides the reader with a mix of descriptive text, statistics, lists, maps, tables charts and photographs.

Not only does the yearbook cover the economy, social and cultural affairs, the environment, transport and foreign affairs, it also gives an update on the progress of devolution and its impact on the four constituent parts of the United Kingdom. This edition includes summaries of many of the major events in 2001, including the General Election, foot-and-mouth disease and covers social exclusion and the direction of scientific research and developing technologies - issues which are shaping British society.

New this edition is a series of four short essays, which either deal with issues of topical importance or cover subjects that straddle more than one sector of social, cultural and economic life.

The essays for the 2002 edition covers - the 2001 Census, design, sustainable development and e-commerce.
