Once a feminist : stories of a generation

Twemty years ago, the second wave of feminism in Britain was marked by the first ever Women's Liberation Conference at Ruskin College, Oxford.

Women from all over the country gathered to share their exhilarations, revelations and confusions.

Many were beginning to question their role in the family, at work and in society as a whole; but who led this new wave of feminism?

What made these women ready to forge radical new ideas about the world?

The author interviewed some of the women who were at that landmark conference, and has produced a series of portraits of a generation of women who came to political consciousness at a crucial moment in history.

How did they want to change the world? How successfully did they change their lives? What was the relationship between the public campaigner and the private being?The author has also published a collection of short stories "Guests in the Body".
