One never knows where an experienced talented writer like David Ware will get his inspiration for a new novel. Before the manuscript was finished, David told me on the phone about this kid he knew in grade school. Because of the way he looked, the kids would tease him and call him Mud Face. Me and a couple other kids were the only ones who would play with him. David went on to say, My next novel won t be about him of course, but I do plan to call it Mud Face. So, there you have it: 60 some-odd years later David remembers that kid s name, how he took up for him, and wrote his new novel with him in mind. As a kid, the main character in this novel, Josiah Huff, was picked on too - predominately due to his unusual skin color. He was part black and part Choctaw Indian - hence the nickname Mud Face. You ll want to read the novel to follow his interesting career.

Think you ll enjoy reading David s latest work from beginning to end. Randy Rogers
