The Theatre of Marco Antonio De La Parra : Translations and Commentary

This anthology offers five of the best known plays by Chilean author Marco Antonio de la Parra in translation: The Raw, The Cooked, and The Rotten (1978), Secret Obscenities (1984), Every Young Woman's Desire (1986), King Kong Palace (1990), and Dostoevski Goes to the Beach (1990).

Accompanying the translations are six essays by scholars in the field of Latin American theatre who offer keen insights into the complex world of the playwright/novelist/psychiatrist de la Parra.

The translations and essays explore the author's theatre written during the darkest days of the Pinochet regime as well as those of his self-proclaimed post-Pinochet era.
